Senator Iyabo Ojo, the daughter of former Nigerian president, Senator Iyabo Obasanjo, has formally briefed President Bola Tinubu on her ambition to run for governor.
The governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State also told Tinubu about her plans for the state during a private meeting held at his Lagos residence.
The discussion centred on Obasanjo’s intention to contest the governorship of Ogun State.
She outlined her vision for the state, highlighting priorities in governance, development, and public service if elected into office.
Obasanjo also reflected on her long-standing relationship with President Tinubu, describing it as one built over years of political engagement and mutual respect.
She noted that the relationship has shaped her political journey and informed her approach to leadership.
She said, “On Monday in Lagos, I had the privilege of meeting His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and our conversation was insightful and forward-looking, focusing on leadership, governance and the ongoing development of our nation and Ogun State.”
During the meeting, the former commissioner reaffirmed her loyalty to the ruling party and pledged to actively mobilise support for President Tinubu ahead of the next general election.
The meeting is seen by observers as part of ongoing political consultations and alignments ahead of future electoral contests in Ogun State and at the national level.
