Amotekun Begins Intensified Patrols Around Ondo Boarding Schools

Security officials in Ondo State have expanded their operations to protect students in boarding facilities, following rising concerns over kidnappings and security breaches across the state.

Amotekun Commander Adetunji Adeleye disclosed the development in Akure after presenting 16 suspects arrested for various offences. He explained that teams have been stationed around schools with boarding accommodations, especially those located in border communities and remote outskirts.

According to him, officers have spent the past week visiting multiple schools and reinforcing surveillance. He noted that the Corps has also strengthened its 24-hour Ember Month patrol, increasing its presence along entry routes into the state to deter criminal activity.

The commander highlighted the impact of ‘Operation Le Won Jade’, a border security exercise launched on November 6 to tighten control around vulnerable boundary areas. He said the operation has helped push out bandits, kidnappers, and other criminal elements hiding in forest zones.

Adeleye further revealed that 34 arrests were made within the last week, with 16 suspects formally paraded. He assured residents that security agencies remain committed to ensuring safety across the state.
