Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum announced on Wednesday that the worst phase of Boko Haram insurgency in the state is over, citing significant improvement in security. The statement was made during a meeting with Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Shuaibu Waidi in Maiduguri, where Zulum urged residents to continue supporting security agencies with timely intelligence.
Zulum highlighted persistent threats from terrorist enclaves in the Sambisa Game Reserve, Mandara Hills, and Tumbus Islands, emphasizing the need for coordinated operations by the Army, Navy, and Air Force. He called for the deployment of additional UAVs to enhance surveillance and rapid response capabilities.
He also commended the Nigerian Armed Forces for their sacrifices and reaffirmed the state government’s support for military personnel in counterterrorism efforts.
