Israel Orders Evacuation in Two Lebanese Villages Ahead of Strike

The Israeli army issued an urgent evacuation warning to residents in Deir Kifa and Shahour, southern Lebanon, ahead of strikes on Hezbollah military infrastructure. Maps and instructions were shared via X, emphasizing the dangers of remaining near identified buildings.

Spokesperson Avichay Adraee stated that the strikes target Hezbollah operations in response to the group’s attempts to rebuild military capacities weakened by recent conflict with Israel. Two Hezbollah members were reportedly killed in strikes the previous day in Bint Jbeil and Blida, accused of intelligence gathering and reconstructing military facilities.

The ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah, effective for the past year, was intended to halt ongoing hostilities since the start of the Gaza war in October 2023. Israel claims the strikes uphold the ceasefire, while Lebanon accuses Israel of repeated violations, including maintaining forces within Lebanese territory.

A recent attack on a Hamas training facility in Ain al-Hilweh, a Palestinian refugee camp in southern Lebanon, killed at least 13 people, with Hamas denying any military presence there. The escalation underscores persistent regional tensions as both sides assert violations and retaliatory actions.
