The Imo State government has finalized arrangements to reinstall Christian Obi as the head coach of Heartland, a Nigeria Premier Football League team.
As per reports originating from Owerri, this decision was reached during a meeting involving the state’s sports commissioner, Hon Emeka Okoronkwo, and other government officials.
Obi was dismissed from his role last month due to Heartland’s lackluster performance at the onset of the 2023/24 NPFL season. The Naze Millionaires struggled to secure a victory in nine league games under his guidance.
Taking his place was Kennedy Boboye, a former coach for Plateau United and Akwa United. Since Boboye’s appointment, the Owerri club has garnered two wins, a draw, and suffered three defeats in six games.
Heartland is set to face Remo Stars at the Dan Anyiam Stadium on Thursday. As of now, the five-time champions find themselves at the bottom of the NPFL table.
