Adamawa police to dominate public space for crossover activities

In preparation for the annual crossover night event scheduled for Sunday, December 31st, 2023, into the early hours of Monday, January 1st, 2024, the Adamawa State Police Command has announced a traffic diversion around the Great Interchange Flyover in Yola.

This new interchange has replaced the former Police Roundabout, situated near the state Police headquarters in the capital city.

The traffic diversion aims to facilitate the secure hosting of a New Year entertainment rally planned for the area.

According to a statement obtained on Thursday morning from the Adamawa State Police Command, travelers from Yola International Airport to Yola Town are advised to divert through Fire Service Roundabout, Bekaji, and Federal Secretariat. Those heading to Numan Road from Dougirei should follow Ribadu Square through Target Junction, leading up to Fire Service Roundabout.

The statement, signed by Police Public Relations Officer Suleiman Nguroje, emphasized that the ‘Night of Entertainment and Waiting’ is scheduled to take place at the Great Interchange & Flyover, adjacent to the Police headquarters.

“To ensure effective policing within the period, the Command wishes to inform members of the public that there will be adequate security deployment around the city and emplacement of traffic diversions at strategic places around the event ground, which includes all sister security agencies.

“The Command is also advising the public to keep their vehicles away from the event area and not to panic when they see heavy police visibility as would be witnessed at the various traffic control points to aid the free flow of traffic,” he said.

The Command appealed to the public to cooperate with security agencies in their efforts to sustain order and peace around the state.
