Edo 2024: Ize-Iyamu declares to run for gov’ship again

Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, a former Secretary to the State Government of Edo State, has announced his intention to enter the 2024 governorship race in the state. Reaffirming his alignment with the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ize-Iyamu declared his candidacy on Wednesday.

He reiterated his commitment to his earlier articulated SIMPLE agenda, focusing on Security, Infrastructure Development, Manpower Development, Public/Private Partnership, Leadership by example, and Employment creation.

This marks Ize-Iyamu’s third attempt at clinching the Edo governorship position. In 2020, he contested under the APC banner but was defeated by Governor Godwin Obaseki, who ran under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In his declaration speech, Ize-Iyamu emphasized his readiness for the role, citing his prior experience as the State Government Secretary and a past gubernatorial candidate within the party as qualifying factors for the governorship.

“We lost the 2020 election because our leaders outside the state chose to vote against us.”
