The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has constituted a 65-member Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), with two-time Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Borno State, Kashim Ibrahim-Imam as Chairman.
The list which the ADC presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar described as “lean and strategically structured” to reflect the mood of the nation, also has former Kaduna State governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai who is presently in detention, as Deputy Chairman.
However, former Minister of State for Defence, Austin Akobundu who is presently a serving Senator representing Abia Central, is the Director-General of the Campaign Council.
Former presidential aspirant on the platform of the party, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen emerged as Chairman of the Policy Council, while former Edo State governor, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun is the Chairman Advisory Board.
The party also appointed its pioneer National Chairman, Dr. Ralphs Okey Nwosu, as Deputy Director-General of Operations while Otunba Dele Momodu is Deputy Director-General, Media and Publicity.
Senator Dino Melaye emerged as Deputy Director-General, Contact and Mobilisation while Lauretta Onochie is in charge of Technical and System.
The PCC in a statement by Phrank Shaibu, Director, Strategic Communications, said the ADC opted for a small member council due to “the severe economic realities confronting millions of Nigerians.”
It stated that its presidential candidate, Alhaji Abubakar, wanted a prudent and sensitive campaign council to reflect the mood of the nation.
According to the statement, the council “will operate as a people-driven organisation anchored on competence, accountability, national inclusion, clearly defined responsibilities and measurable results.”
It added that the 65-member council is organised into six major operational directorates, each headed by a Deputy Director-General and 30 Directors, assigned clearly defined responsibilities.
“The structure has been deliberately kept lean to prevent duplication, reduce bureaucracy and ensure that every office has a specific function and every appointee is accountable for results,” the PCC added.
