A support group, National Patriotic Front for Tinubu, (NPFFT) has called on prominent indigenes from Cross River State to unite and speak with one voice against every attempt to marginalize indigenes of the state.
Director General of the support group, Castro Ezama who addressed Journalists in Çalabar on Tuesday alleged that.the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) had carried out promotions in recent time without an indigene of the state being part of the promotion.
According to him while about six people from Edo state, six people from Delta state, three people from Bayelsa state, eight people from Rivers state and three people from Akwa Ibom state were recently promoted to various senior positions, none from Cross River State was promoted.
Ezama accused Abuja based Politicians from the state of fighting among themselves, a situation he said has continued to contribute to the marginalization of people from the state.
While calling on the federal Character Commission to step in and remedy the alleged injustice, he said the support group is expected to use such issues to campaign for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu if the situation is corrected.
Ezama also appealed to Senators from the state to intervene in the matter, saying the individual attitude of Politicians in Abuja was not good for the state as they watched while the state was being marginalized.
“Silence in the face of a credible allegation of injustice risks weakening public confidence in legislative oversight. We therefore, call on rhe chairmen of the relevant Senate committees on petroleum resources, up stream and gas to exercise their oversight responsibilities.
“We also understand that both chairmen are indigenes of Cross River State. Their connection to Cross River however, makes the absence of any publicly known intervention or enquiry especially questionable,” he said.
