Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has inaugurated his campaign council ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election, expressing strong confidence that his re-election bid is firmly on course.
Addressing party faithful and supporters at the event, held in Osogbo, Osun State capital, the governor said he was already sensing victory for himself, his team, and the Accord Party, describing the inauguration as the beginning of a renewed march toward continuity in office.
“I am feeling the victory, the defeat of our opponents. This team is heading to victory. My spirit confirms our party is declared winner with wide margins,” Adeleke said amid cheers, singing, and dancing by supporters.
He drew parallels with his 2022 electoral victory, noting that the current political momentum mirrors the early stages of that successful campaign.
“This is how we started in 2022. Today is the march to victory on August 15. I hereby inaugurate this Campaign Council to the service of continuity and delivery of good governance,” he added.
Also speaking, the Director-General of the campaign council, Lere Oyewumi, said the ruling party would adopt a different campaign strategy as an incumbent administration.
“What we did in 2018 and 2022 is different from what we are going to do now because we are no longer in opposition. We are now the ruling party, and the approach will reflect that reality,” he said.
Oyewumi dismissed expectations of engaging in unnecessary political disputes, insisting the campaign would focus on the administration’s achievements.
“We are going to disappoint those expecting us to join issues with people who have nothing to offer. Our candidate has performed, and that is what we will present to the people,” he stated.
He further disclosed plans to expand campaign structures across wards and local government areas to deepen grassroots mobilisation.
“We will create more campaign structures, particularly at the ward and local government levels, where more people will be actively involved in driving the re-election of our performing governor,” he added.
The inauguration signals the official commencement of Adeleke’s re-election campaign, with the council expected to coordinate strategy, mobilisation, and outreach across the state.
The event, marked by high turnout, music, and celebrations, reflects the growing political momentum in Osun State as parties intensify preparations for what is expected to be a keenly contested governorship poll.
