President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has shed light on the significance of the infinity symbol that regularly adorns his caps, declaring that it represents his administration’s unwavering political commitment to breaking the cycle of violence, poverty, ignorance, and hopelessness that has long plagued Nigeria.
The President made the disclosure during a solidarity visit to Jos, Plateau State, following a spate of deadly attacks by gunmen that killed several residents and displaced entire communities. Addressing a gathering that included political leaders, residents, and senior security chiefs, Tinubu framed the symbol as a rallying emblem for collective national resolve.
“We must break it together,”he declared, describing the infinity symbol as a charge to confront and dismantle the entrenched forces holding Nigeria back from its full potential.
Turning his attention to the security situation, the President commended the armed forces and security agencies, with particular praise for the Nigeria Police Force, while urging them to intensify efforts to identify and prosecute those behind the killings. Notably present during the visit were the Inspector-General of Police, the Chief of Army Staff, and the Minister of Defence.
“You must unearth and find the killers,”Tinubu said pointedly.
Reflecting on the broader responsibilities of leadership, the President invoked the progressive ideals that had shaped his political journey, stressing that governance must translate into tangible improvements in citizens’ lives rather than loss and suffering.
In a practical response to the crisis, Tinubu announced the expansion of an existing federal committee to incorporate the Plateau State Governor and the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, with a mandate to assess the scale of damage and coordinate relief for affected victims. While acknowledging the irreplaceable nature of human life, he pledged that the Federal Government would do everything within its power to provide comfort to those who had suffered losses.
