Bandits Kill Village Head in Dalijan Community Attack in Sokoto

Bandits have attacked the Dalijan community in the Jamali ward of Binji Local Government Area, Sokoto State, killing the Village Head, Alhaji Ibrahim Magaji Tanko.

The attack occurred in the early hours of Thursday.

The assailants made away with livestock, including cows, goats, sheep, and chickens, as well as food items and personal belongings.

They also looted the community, taking cash and other valuables.

Binji shares borders with Tangaza and Gudu areas, where notorious Lakurawa bandits have established their enclaves.

The proximity of Binji Local Government to these bandit enclaves poses a significant security challenge to the area.

The Lakurawa bandits have been known to engage in various forms of criminal activities, including kidnapping, robbery, and cattle rustling.

A resident of the area noted that the strategic location of Binji Local Government makes it vulnerable to bandit attacks, and advised residence of the area to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.

The Executive Chairman of Binji Local Government, Alhaji Dikko Nabunkari, and the APC Chairman of Binji, Alhaji Umaru Hassan Gimba, have condemned the incident and expressed their condolences over the death of the District Head.

In a statement, Nabunkari prayed for the soul of the deceased and appealed for peace and calm in the community.

“May Allah rest the soul of the deceased and grant him Aljannah. May the family and loved ones of the deceased find solace and strength during this difficult time.”
