Ogun State Police Command has recovered a silver-coloured Toyota RAV4 Jeep and reunited it with its rightful owner in the Obantoko area of the state.
The recovery was confirmed in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Command, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, at Eleweran, Abeokuta.
The vehicle was recovered on January 17, 2026, by the Surveillance Team of the Obantoko Division during a routine patrol at the Somorin area of Obantoko. The car was initially suspected to have been stolen and abandoned.
According to the Police, the vehicle was secured at the Obantoko Divisional Headquarters while efforts were made to trace its owner. Following the dissemination of information and thorough verification of relevant documents, the owner was identified and confirmed as the lawful possessor of the vehicle.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Obantoko Division, subsequently handed over the recovered Toyota RAV4, along with its keys and documents, to the owner.
Commending the development, the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, praised the Obantoko Division Surveillance Team for their professionalism, vigilance and swift response. He urged officers and men of the Command to sustain high standards of dedication and community policing in the protection of lives and property across the state.
The Ogun State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to crime prevention and public safety, encouraging residents to promptly report suspicious movements and criminal activities to the nearest police station.
