Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has applauded residents for their orderly and peaceful participation in the just-concluded local government elections across the state.

In a statement posted on his official X account on Saturday evening, the governor expressed gratitude to all voters for turning out and upholding democratic values.

“I extend my heartfelt appreciation to all Lagosians who came out today to perform their civic duty in the local government elections,” he said. “Your peaceful conduct, sense of responsibility, and turnout across polling units have once again demonstrated the true spirit of Lagos.”

Sanwo-Olu acknowledged the role played by different groups including youths, elders, artisans, professionals, and market women in ensuring a smooth election process.

He also thanked the security agencies, electoral officials, and the media for their professionalism and support throughout the election period.

“As Lagosians await the official results from LASIEC, I urge all candidates and political actors to remain calm, respectful, and law-abiding,” the governor added. “Let us keep this spirit alive as we continue to build the Lagos of our dreams — inclusive, peaceful, and prosperous.”

The elections were conducted across all 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas in Lagos State.
