Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State have openly pledged their loyalty to Governor Ademola Adeleke, vowing to follow him to any political party he may eventually decide to join.
This pledge comes amid widespread rumours suggesting that the governor might defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC). During a crucial meeting held on Saturday in Osogbo, the PDP leadership caucus passed a vote of confidence on Adeleke and reaffirmed their support for any future political decision he takes.
According to a statement from the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the caucus praised Adeleke’s leadership and performance, urging him to continue consultations before making a final decision.
“The Osun PDP leadership caucus today passed a vote of confidence on Governor Ademola Adeleke, unanimously supporting any decision the Governor takes on the growing rumour of defection to another political party,” the statement read.
Present at the meeting were top figures from all sections of the party and government, including members of the National Assembly, State Assembly, State Executive Council, and ALGON leadership. Former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola and Deputy Senate Minority Leader Senator Lere Oyewumi were also in attendance.
As rumours continue to circulate, this declaration of loyalty by Osun PDP stakeholders has stirred tension among both PDP and APC supporters, with uncertainty surrounding the future political alignment of Governor Adeleke.
The governor is yet to officially confirm any move but is reportedly still consulting with key stakeholders before deciding on his next steps.
