The Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) and the Nigeria Police are working together to unravel the mystery behind the death of Ridwan Oladipupo, a 300-level Agricultural Engineering student whose lifeless body was discovered off-campus in Ogbomoso.
According to a statement by the Registrar, Mrs. Olayinka Balogun, Ridwan was last seen on June 24, 2025, when he reportedly left his hostel to study at an undisclosed location and never returned.
“On June 25, the university was contacted by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) from Owode Division about a body found in front of Nurudeen Grammar School, Under-G Road,” Balogun stated.
Efforts by the police and the university’s Student Affairs Division to identify the body initially proved difficult, as neither students nor residents recognized the deceased. The body was eventually deposited at LAUTECH Teaching Hospital Mortuary.
The mystery deepened when Ridwan’s father arrived on June 29, accompanied by a police officer, to inquire about his missing son. The occupants of his hostel were questioned, but as of now, no official complaint has been lodged with the university.
The Registrar emphasized that while the school mourns the loss, it will refrain from making further public comments to avoid compromising the police investigation.
LAUTECH has pledged full cooperation with law enforcement to ensure justice and clarity in this tragic incident that has shaken the university community.
