Residents of Karu, Nasarawa State, woke up in fear after unknown gunmen stormed a residential area and kidnapped Pastor Faturoti Olaniyi of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
The attackers reportedly invaded the RCCG quarters near Bristol Academy at the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) in Karu around 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2025.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the armed men fired multiple shots into the air before dragging the pastor away to an unknown destination.
Eyewitnesses said the terrifying sounds of gunfire sent residents fleeing in different directions. The attackers operated freely for several minutes without resistance, creating panic in the community.
Following the incident, a joint team of police officers, local vigilantes, hunters, and other security agents launched a manhunt to track down the kidnappers. They combed the surrounding hills and bushes, blocking possible escape routes.
As of the time this report was compiled, the victim remains in captivity while rescue efforts continue.
