Patience Jonathan is trending following the outcry from Gladys Achese, sister to one of her domestic workers who was detained alongside 14 others for six years over the First Lady’s missing jewelry valued at an alleged 750 million naira.
She had spoken out about the ordeal her family has endured.
The staff have been in detention for years, sparking widespread outrage and calls for their release. The case was brought to light by PIDOM Nigeria’s social media post last year, prompting a single court session. However, the defendant’s sudden withdrawal led to an indefinite adjournment.
Gladys and her family are pleading with Nigerians to intervene and ensure a fair trial. The prolonged delay has taken a devastating toll on the family, causing immense emotional distress and disrupting their lives. They’re urging the public to help amplify their cry for justice, seeking a swift resolution to their ordeal.
The 15 members of the First Lady’s former domestic staff have remained in remandment in a correctional center in Bayelsa state since the year 2019 without being charged or made to stand trial.
