Liverpool winger Federico Chiesa is anticipated to make his debut for the club after his summer transfer from Juventus.
According to a statement obtained from Fabrizio Romano’s X handle on Monday, Liverpool coach Arne Slot said, “He is in the team selection for tomorrow. Don’t expect him to start, but he can make a few minutes.”
Federico Chiesa’s recent transfer from Juventus to Liverpool, valued at over £12.5 million, has been a major highlight of the summer. However, despite the excitement surrounding the Italian winger’s arrival, he has yet to make his debut due to concerns about his match fitness.
Chiesa hasn’t played competitive football since June, which led manager Arne Slot to take a cautious approach, leaving him out of the squad for Liverpool’s unexpected loss to Nottingham Forest.
With Liverpool set to face AC Milan in their 2024/2025 Champions League opener at San Siro, fans are eager to see Chiesa in action. However, given his recent lack of game time and the fierce competition for attacking positions in Slot’s squad, a starting role appears unlikely.
Nonetheless, supporters are hopeful that Chiesa will make an appearance, contributing to Liverpool’s European campaign.
