60 Presidential Amnesty Scholarship Students Graduate with First-Class Degrees

The Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) Office revealed on Thursday that over 60 students on its scholarship scheme achieved first-class degrees in various competitive disciplines between 2016 and 2023.

Dr. Charles Ariye, PAP’s Head of Education, shared this milestone in a statement, highlighting the academic success across fields such as electrical/electronics engineering, law, computer science, petroleum engineering, and international relations, among others.

Ariye’s commendation followed the recent achievement of Kemien Egbekun, who graduated with a 4.77 CGPA (first class) in Law from Michael and Cecilia Ibru University, Delta State.

Two other PAP-sponsored students, Oladapo Damilola and Toikumo Prosper, also earned second-class upper degrees in Law at the university’s 6th convocation ceremony held on September 6, 2024.

PAP Administrator, Dr. Dennis Otuaro, expressed his satisfaction with the students’ outstanding performances, praising the continued support from President Bola Tinubu, which has strengthened the programme’s contribution to human capital development in the Niger Delta.

Otuaro emphasized that these academic accomplishments align with the president’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which focuses on sustainable peace, stability, and development in the region.

He stated, “We are elated by the fantastic academic performances of the Presidential Amnesty Programme scholarship scheme students. Achieving such impressive grades as first-class and second-class upper division is no mean academic feat.

“These achievements reinforce the fact that the PAP is on the right track implementing its mandate. We are delighted and encouraged by this fact, and are taking appropriate steps to deepen efforts at achieving more in educational and vocational initiatives.

“We must thank President Bola Tinubu for his strong support for the programme and the undying love he has for the people of the Niger Delta through his Renewed Hope Agenda. He is committed to sustainable peace, stability, and development in the region. He needs to be appreciated and encouraged also.”
