Controversial street pop singer Habeeb Olalomi, popularly known as Portable, has faced significant backlash after making controversial remarks about the ongoing protests in Nigeria.
In a video that has circulated widely online, Portable claimed that there were no protests in Sango, Ogun State, where he resides.
He suggested that previous demonstrations had been ignored by the government, leading him and his community to focus on their daily lives instead.
The reaction to Portable’s comments has been swift and severe. Within just 12 hours of posting the video, he lost 100,000 Instagram followers, according to reports from a popular blog.
Fans had warned that they would unfollow him if he continued to make such statements, and many have followed through on their threats. Additionally, Portable’s earlier comparison of himself to billionaire Aliko Dangote and his characterization of protests as activities for the poor have further fueled the backlash.
