Police fired tear gas canisters at protesters gathered at Berger roundabout in Abuja. Journalists covering the protest were also tear-gassed at a separate location.
An Abuja high court had granted an injunction to confine protesters to the MKO Abiola National Stadium.
The FCT Minister, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, urged protesters to obey the court order, but protest leaders claim they have not been served with a copy of the order.
