The Department of State Services (DSS) operatives have killed one kidnapper and arrested another in connection with the abduction of Hajiya Hauwa’u Adamu, the mother of popular Kano-based Hausa singer, Dauda Rarara.

Gunmen broke into Rara’s mother’s residence in Kahutu village in Danja Local Government Area of Kano State and abducted her on Friday, June 28, 2024. She was held captive for 20 days before regaining her freedom.

A source within the secret service stated that N26.5 million was recovered during a covert operation. According to the source, the Kano command’s tactical team, acting on reliable intelligence, apprehended a gang of five bandits in Makarfi bush while they were sharing the ransom.

“Hamisu Tukur is currently in custody with gunshot injuries, while Bature was killed,” the source said.
