Afenifere Leader, Reuben Fasoranti, Dies at 100

Pa Reuben Fasoranti, leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, has died at the age of 100.

Fasoranti died on Tuesday, with Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, announcing his death in a condolence message.

The governor described the late elder statesman as a respected patriarch whose life was defined by wisdom, integrity and selfless service to Ondo State, Yorubaland and Nigeria.

“With a heavy heart but with total submission to the will of God, I announce the passing of our revered elder statesman, Pa Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti, who departed this world at the glorious age of 100,” Aiyedatiwa said.

He said Fasoranti’s contributions to the development of the state and the country would remain a lasting part of his legacy.

According to the governor, the late Afenifere leader’s counsel, fatherly guidance and principled positions on justice and good governance would be greatly missed.

“He lived a fulfilled life and left indelible footprints of honour and legacy for generations to come,” Aiyedatiwa said.

The governor extended his condolences to the Fasoranti family, the people of Akure Kingdom and residents of Ondo State over the loss.

“On behalf of the Government and the good people of Ondo State, I commiserate with the Fasoranti family, the people of Akure Kingdom and the entire state over this great loss,” he added.
