BREAKING: Jos school building collapse death toll hits 22, 132 in hospital

The Plateau State Government has confirmed the deaths of 22 persons and the hospitalization of 132 others following the collapse of the building at Saint Academy in Jos.

In a statement, Commissioner of Information Musa Ashoms revealed that the total number of fatalities and injuries from the incident stands at 154. Emergency responders are actively conducting search and rescue operations at the scene.

“Injured students and staff are receiving medical treatment at various hospitals across Jos,” Ashoms stated.

The breakdown of hospital admissions and fatalities is as follows:

– Plateau State Specialist Hospital (PSSH): 39 hospitalized, 3 deaths
– Our Lady of Apostles (OLA) Hospital: 32 hospitalized, 5 deaths
– Bingham University Teaching Hospital: 55 hospitalized, 14 deaths
– Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH): 6 hospitalized, no deaths

The Plateau State Government activated emergency response protocols immediately upon being notified of the incident, aiming to provide swift assistance and care to the affected individuals.
