In anticipation of the November election in the United States, a recent CNN poll conducted by SSRS reveals that former President Donald Trump maintains a lead over current President Joe Biden. This comes amid Trump’s ongoing criminal trial in New York City.
The poll results show that a majority of Americans now view Trump’s presidency as successful, while a significant portion sees Biden’s tenure as a failure.
Trump’s support among registered voters remains steady at 49 percent in a head-to-head matchup against Biden, while Biden’s stands at 43 percent. Looking back, 55 percent of all Americans consider Trump’s presidency a success, compared to 44 percent who view it as a failure.
On the other hand, 61 percent of respondents assess Biden’s presidency as a failure so far, while 39 percent consider it a success.
The poll also indicates a partisan divide, with Republicans more united in viewing Trump’s presidency as successful than Democrats are in perceiving Biden’s. Additionally, a significant percentage of independents see Trump’s presidency as successful, while fewer regard Biden’s in the same light.
Furthermore, about half of registered voters believe Biden’s presidency is a failure while considering Trump’s as a success. Negative perceptions of Biden’s performance have persisted throughout his tenure, with disapproval ratings remaining high, particularly on issues such as health care policy and handling of the Israel-Hamas conflict.
Moreover, Biden’s approval ratings for the economy and inflation remain notably low, reflecting the importance of economic concerns among voters as they consider candidates for future elections.
