Wind storm kills 1, destroys over 100 houses in Nasarawa

A destructive windstorm struck Agbashi community in Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, claiming one life, injuring multiple individuals, and devastating over 100 houses. 

Vice-Chairman John Bako-Ari of the Doma council area confirmed the tragic event to reporters on Wednesday, revealing that it occurred on Tuesday. Bako-Ari further disclosed that the damage extended to numerous public structures, including Agbashi Central Mosque and a primary school.

“It’s true that the windstorm destroyed over 100 houses, including a mosque and a primary school. The incident happened yesterday (Tuesday) in the evening,” he said.

Also speaking on the incident, the acting Chairman of the Agbashi Development Association, Anthony Oshinyeka, described the incident as unfortunate.

Oshinyeka urged the government to urgently intervene to cushion the effects on the people of the community.

He called for the immediate release of relief materials and medical aid to the victims of the windstorm.
