FIFA President Gianni Infantino has dismissed the proposed introduction of the blue card in football.
Recent reports indicated that the International Football Association Board had approved trials for this new card, which would have marked the first introduction of a new card in football since the classic yellow and red cards were established at the 1970 World Cup.
In response to the swift and negative reaction to the plans, Infantino clarified to Sky UK that no such card exists.
“Blue cards? This is a topic that is non-existent for us,” he said.
“If you want a title it is red card to the blue card. No chance, no way.”
