Police parade four suspects in possession of 295 live ammunition, AK-47 in Niger

The Commissioner of Police for Niger State, CP Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman, has reported the apprehension of four individuals found in possession of 295 rounds of live ammunition and an AK-47 rifle at a poultry farm in Sabon-Wuse, Tafa local government area of the state.

CP Danmamman disclosed this information while presenting the suspects in Minna, highlighting that the arrests were carried out based on credible intelligence received by the police.

The detained individuals, namely Nuhu Abdullahi, Yahuza Isah, and Mohammed Adamu, all hailing from Dadin-Kowa Sabon-Wuse, Tafa LGA, were captured at the poultry farm where the illicit weapons were discovered.

“On February 18, 2024, at about 1410 hrs, based on information received that one Nuhu Abdullahi of a poultry farm in the Sabon-Wuse area of Tafa LGA was suspected to be among the hoodlums terrorizing the area.

“Immediately upon receiving the information, the police operatives attached to Tafa Div, with the Tactical Support Team (TST) led by the DPO Tafa, mobilized to the poultry farm along Garam/Bwari road via Sabon-Wuse and arrested the suspects in connection to the information,” he stated.

He further elucidated that an immediate search of the farm premises uncovered live ammunition and the AK-47 rifle concealed in various bags of grains scattered within the agricultural site.

During the subsequent interrogation, Nuhu Abdullahi admitted that his elder brother, Ibrahim Abdullahi, had sent him a sum of N295,000 to procure arms and ammunition for unlawful activities in Mangu, Plateau State.

Ibrahim Abdullahi, upon his arrest, also confessed to the criminal act.

Yahuza Isah was identified as the intermediary who facilitated the connection between Nuhu Abdullahi and Mohammed Adamu, a member of the vigilante in Sabon-Wuse.

According to Adamu, he acquired approximately one hundred and eighty units of ammunition at the cost of N2,200 each from a certain Rabiu in Kagarko, Kaduna State, and received the consignment in Jere, Kaduna State.

Another suspect, Commander Dahiru of the vigilante, who supplied the remaining quantity, is currently evading arrest.

It was noted that ongoing efforts are being made to apprehend both Commander Dahiru and Rabiu to uncover the origin of the ammunition.
