A tragic incident unfolded in the Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State as suspected herders launched a deadly attack on Ugboju community, resulting in the loss of at least 15 lives.
The assailants, engaged in a series of relentless attacks on the area over the past two weeks, targeted the village on a Wednesday evening, plunging the locals into a state of distress.
Eyewitnesses report that a significant number of people are still unaccounted for, prompting active search parties to comb the surrounding bushes in hopes of finding any remaining survivors.
Godwin Edoh, the representative for Agatu Constituency in the State House of Assembly, expressed deep concern over the fresh wave of killings, confirming that the tragic incident occurred on Wednesday.
Edoh said, “I’m frustrated as a representative of my people by their cries. I have forwarded all the gory photos of the bodies recovered to the WhatsApp lines of both the governor and his deputy.”
