Assuming no last-minute injuries, Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro intends to maintain the same lineup and tactics for the quarter-final clash against Angola.
The three-time champions aim to secure a spot in the semi-finals as they face the Palancas Negras at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan on Friday.
Peseiro transitioned to a 3-4-3 formation after the Super Eagles’ 1-1 draw with Equatorial Guinea in their initial match at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. Since then, the West Africans have secured three consecutive victories against hosts Cote d’Ivoire, Guinea-Bissau, and Cameroon.
Despite an initial mild ligament injury, goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, from Chippa United, has been cleared to play against the Palancas Negras.
Peseiro plans to maintain the central defensive trio of vice-captain William Troost-Ekong, Semi Ajayi, and Calvin Bassey. Ola Aina of Nottingham Forest and Zaidu Sanusi will retain their positions as right and left-wing backs, respectively.
In the midfield, Frank Onyeka and Alex Iwobi are set to take charge. Upfront, the attacking trio will feature talismanic forward Victor Osimhen, supported by Ademola Lookman and Moses Simon.
