The Rivers State Police Command has reported the apprehension of a group of armed robbers and cultists responsible for causing terror in communities within the Khana Local Government Area of the state, including the burglary of army personnel residences.
According to Grace Iringe-Koko, the Command Public Relations Officer, the police acted on intelligence reports detailing the gang’s activities in Gbam-Boue, Kono-Boue communities, and adjacent areas. In a prompt response, five suspects were apprehended.
Superintendent of Police Iringe-Koko stated that a search of the suspects’ residences yielded significant items, including five pieces of military camouflage uniforms, one pair of camouflage shoes, a military cap, a small bag containing electrical tools, one live AK 47 7.6mm ammunition, one live cartridge, one solar panel, and electrical wires suspected to have been stolen from Gift Nuep, an indigene of Uegwere Boue community serving as a military officer in Borno State.
The spokesperson for the command noted that members of the affected communities are celebrating the arrest of the criminals who had been causing terror for over two years. The suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue.
