EFCC detains suspended NSIPA CEO Halima over N17b cash fraud

The National Social Investment Programme Agency’s suspended National Coordinator and CEO, Halima Shehu, has been arrested and detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

President Bola Tinubu approved her suspension after the agency’s account was used to move N17 billion to other accounts without authorization.

Shehu was accused of authorizing payments without presidential approval.

EFCC operatives searched Shehu’s home and private office before arresting her around 8 pm on Tuesday.

She was taken into custody at about 9 pm for questioning. The EFCC is also investigating a director of the agency who allegedly played a role in the suspicious payments.
