The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) expressed condolences to Sunshine Stars after the passing of their backroom staff member, Tosin Dosunmu.
Dosunmu, the Club’s Assistant Kit Manager, reportedly succumbed to injuries from the recent gun attack on the team’s bus. He passed away at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital on Friday, following the incident while en route to Benin for a matchday 13 fixture against Bendel Insurance.
Gbenga Elegbeleye, NPFL board chairman, lamented Dosunmu’s death, describing it as a tragic and unfortunate loss.
“I am personally saddened by the news of this unfortunate and tragic death of the young man,” Elegbeleye was quoted by NPFL.com.
“It is a loss to the entire League because his role at Sunshine Stars is an important contribution to the NPFL ecosystem”, Elegbeleye told NPFL Media.
“We commiserate with the Management of Sunshine Stars and the immediate family of the deceased and pray for the repose of his soul.”
