President Bola Tinubu has instructed the transfer of the school feeding program from the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs to the Ministry of Education.
The Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, disclosed this during a one-day retreat on ministerial deliverables (2023 – 2027) attended by Directors and Chief Executive Officers of all parastatals under the ministry.
Prof. Tahir highlighted that as part of the strategy to tackle the escalating issue of out-of-school children, the president has reinstated the school feeding program within Nigeria’s basic education system. This initiative aims to combat the learning crisis and the persistent challenges faced by out-of-school children in the country.
It’s worth noting that the program had been suspended during the tenure of former President Muhammadu Buhari after several years of operation.
