Most Revd. Daniel Okoh, President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), praised the military for their ongoing achievements in addressing the country’s security issues.
This commendation was shared by Brig.-Gen. Tukur Gusau, the Director of Defence Information, in a statement released on Thursday in Abuja.
During a courtesy visit to Gen. Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff in Abuja, Okoh, alongside the CAN leadership, expressed their appreciation and commendation for the military’s efforts.
“We need peace, without peace we cannot pursue any developmental projects and we need peace to move forward.
“The Church has seen significant progress in the fight against criminality in the country under the watch of the CDS,” the CAN president said.
The CAN President mentioned that their visit aimed to reciprocate the earlier gesture by the CDS, who had visited the CAN Headquarters a few months back. He highlighted the positive outcomes resulting from this exchange, fostering better understanding within the Christian community regarding the military’s efforts to tackle insecurity in the nation.
In response, the CDS acknowledged the role of prayers as a spiritual support for the armed forces’ accomplishments. He urged CAN to persist in its prayers for the nation and the military, emphasizing the necessity for righteous actions by Nigerians to address the security challenges.
Musa emphasized the military’s obligation to safeguard all Nigerians regardless of religious affiliations. He assured ongoing constructive engagements with stakeholders to facilitate enduring peace in the country.
