Two individuals tragically lost their lives in a fire outbreak at the Ogbomoso residence of former Oyo State Governor, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala.
Alao-Akala served as the state governor from 2007 to 2011. The fire engulfed his residence located in the Randa area of Ogbomoso during the early hours of Monday.
The cause of the fire remains unknown as of the time of this report. Although the extent of the damage is yet to be fully assessed, the incident resulted in the loss of two lives.
An Ogbomoso native, preferring anonymity, mentioned that the deceased individuals were inhabitants of the house.
“I have been informed. Yes. The two people are those living in the house.
“I have called one of the people who are in the house and he has confirmed it to me. The inferno happened this morning,” the source said.
According to a source within the compound, who preferred not to be named, the fire erupted around 7:50 am. Regrettably, one victim passed away immediately, while the other succumbed to injuries at Bowen Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, where she had been rushed for medical attention. The source identified one of the victims as Mr. Jumo.
Reportedly, political associates of the former governor and friends have been visiting the residence to offer condolences to the Alao-Akala family following the tragic incident.
Efforts to obtain a response from the state fire service proved futile as officials were unavailable for comment.
