The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has expressed its commitment to collaborating with Diaspora housing and urban development initiatives.
During a courtesy visit by the Chairperson of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, and her team to the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, in Abuja, Dangiwa revealed the ministry’s readiness to support initiatives aimed at facilitating homeownership for Nigerians in the diaspora.
Dangiwa also highlighted that the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) has agreed to engage in the development of the Diaspora City Project.
This endeavor will be established through a Public-Private Partnership involving the FHA, NiDCOM, and the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), spanning approximately 675 hectares of land in Maitama 2.
“NiDCOM has over the years championed several initiatives and programmes that are helping our country leverage the massive potential of our diaspora for national development.
“We have over 20 million Nigerians in diaspora remitting an average of over $24bn per annum,” he noted.
