FCT community calls for govt intervention in degrading access road

Residents of Sabon Lugbe in Abuja’s Lugbe District urgently seek government intervention to address the deteriorating state of their sole access road.

During an interview with journalists in Abuja on Monday, residents from Aso and Taproot Estates expressed their concern.

The district encompasses several estates and settlements like Sallybest Estate, Dayspring Estate, Vergas Estate, and KYC Estate.

They highlighted that this road serves as the vital link from their neighborhood to Airport Road, connecting them to the city at large.

Folorunsho Okeji, Chairman of the Aso Estate Residents Association, emphasized their 20-year existence and the critical role of the central culvert, the primary drainage channel for the area.

Okeji warned that the deteriorating culvert poses imminent risks, not only to residents but also to neighboring settlements and water sources.

He described sections of the road as significantly degraded, where locals have resorted to placing worn-out tires in hazardous spots to caution drivers about potential dangers.

“It is the only road serving us in and out of this community but in the last seven years, more developments have taken place inside the area which has caused an increase in the demand for the road.”
