Uruguayan forward Darwin Nunez has praised former Barcelona icon Luis Suarez, hailing him as the premier striker globally. Nunez’s accolade follows Suarez’s acknowledgment of Nunez as one of the top No.9 players worldwide.
Suarez recently lauded Nunez, acknowledging his prowess as one of the finest No.9s, especially after the Liverpool star netted a double in Uruguay’s 3-0 victory over Bolivia in a World Cup qualifier.
Despite approaching his 37th birthday in January, Suarez expressed contentment with his altered role within the Uruguayan team, affirming his satisfaction in serving as support to “one of the premier No.9s in the world” in Nunez.
When told about Suarez’s claim that he is one of the world’s best strikers, Nunez said as quoted by Metro UK: “Hearing that he praises me makes me very happy.
“The best striker, for me, is him [Suarez], you have to enjoy him in the moments he is with us.
“He is one of the best No.9s in the history of Uruguay and you have to enjoy him.”
