The Police Commander in Ekiti State has brought charges against two individuals, Azees Agbaye (33) and Alaba Oke (45), before an Ekiti State Chief Magistrate Court in the Ado Ekiti District. They are accused of stealing 94 liters of diesel oil valued at N232,000.
According to the police prosecutor, Celeb Leramo, the defendants allegedly committed the offense on November 15, around 10:10 a.m. at a telecom mast with registration number EK10053C in the Olat area of Adebayo, Ado Ekiti.
Leramo said that “the defendants did conspire together to commit felony to wit, stealing”.
He said that the defendants stole the diesel on the property of one Pyramid Risk Management Consult.
The prosecutor added that the defendants also stole cable wire valued at N45,000, from the same company.
He said, “The defendants did conspire together to commit felony to wit, stealing.
“On the same date, time, and place, did steal 94 liters of diesel oil valued at N232,000, property of Pyramid Risk Management Consult.
“On November 11, at about 2.30a.m in the same place, did steal cable wire valued at N45,000, from the same company.
“The offense committed is contrary to and punishable under Section 421, 295, 302 (1)(A) of the Criminal Law Vol. 1, Law of the Ekiti State of Nigeria 2021.”
Counsel to the defendants, A. V. Ogunjobi, urged the court to grant his clients bail, promising to provide credible sureties, saying they would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Saka Afunso, granted the defendants bail of N25,000 with one surety each and adjourned the case till December 4, for further hearing.
