On Monday, November 13, the National Assembly (NASS) unveiled eight new coaster buses, provided by its management to alleviate transportation challenges faced by its staff. The deputy Senate president, Senator Barau Jibrin, inaugurated the second batch of eight buses.
The management had previously presented four new buses to the union before the commencement of the 10th Assembly.
During the bus commissioning, Senator Barau Jibrin emphasized that this gesture reflects the commitment of the 10th National Assembly, led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, to address the well-being of its staff.
He highlighted that when the request for welfare buses reached the Senate President, he promptly approved it, underscoring his dedication to the welfare of parliamentary staff.
Speaking at the event, the Clerk to the National Assembly, Magaji Tambuwal, reassured staff members about the implementation of the new N35,000 wage award for National Assembly staff. This adjustment is part of measures to mitigate the impact of the fuel subsidy removal.
The eight buses were handed over to the leadership of the NASS Chapter of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN).
