‘Mummy Calm Down’: Husband of famous woman who committed suicide arrested in Benin

The husband of the lady featured in the well-known viral video “Mummy Calm Down” has been taken into custody by the Edo State Police Command after it was claimed that she had committed herself in Benin City.

The mother of three, Mrs. Toluige Olokoobi Babalola, was accused of killing herself in their apartment by hanging herself with a rope while her husband was out at the market.

In 2020, the dead gained notoriety through a widely shared video showing her kid bending down and pleading with her to “calm down, mama.”

Upon visiting the complex located at No. 89, Garrick Layout, Benin City, Daily Trust saw that the building’s gate was locked and no one was visible.

A local, who wishes to remain anonymous, did express astonishment upon learning of the suicide, though.

He added that the husband had worked as a banker for one of the new generational banks, but had left to become a car dealer, and the dead was a distributor for a pharmaceutical firm.

He stated there was no sign the woman had been going through a tough period and that they were living together contentedly.

The woman’s husband reported the crime to the police, according to Edo State Command spokeswoman Chidi Nwabuzor, who verified the occurrence.
