Olamide would have helped many more artists if I had signed him years ago- Akon

Akon, a Senegalese-American artist, expressed regret over not signing Olamide Adedeji, often known as Baddo or Olamide, a native of Nigeria, years ago.

He claimed that the YBNL leader was his favorite performer at the time and he would have had the wherewithal to help many more singers grow.

Olamide accounts for the discovery and success of many artistes including Lil Kesh, Adekunle Gold, Fireboy and Asake but AKon said the music executive would have done much more for the music industry in Nigeria had he signed him many years ago.

Akon expressed remorse over not signing the rapper in a Skype chat with OAP Oladotun Ojuolape Kayode, nicknamed Do2Tun, of Cool FM, Lagos.

“I would probably say the one person in Nigeria that I wish I had signed is Olamide. Honestly, I wish I had signed Olamide because he would have signed a lot of new artists anyway.

“Olamide was my favourite artist before he reinvented himself as a music executive. The first time we met, I told him he was my favourite artist,” Akon stated.
