Tinubu leaves for 78th UNGA in New York Sunday

The 78th UN General Assembly, which will take place from September 19 to September 23, will be attended by President Bola Tinubu. He will depart for New York on Sunday from Abuja.
This was revealed on Saturday in Abuja in a statement from Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the president’s special adviser on media and publicity.

Tinubu’s first UNGA excursion will be this journey.

“Rebuilding Trust and Reigniting Global Solidarity: Accelerating Action on the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals towards peace, prosperity, progress, and sustainability for everyone,” he stated as the subject of the UNGA.

Ngelale stated that the President’s inaugural National Statement would be delivered on the first day of the High-Level General Discussion of the 78th UNGA Session.

The President will join other world leaders to take part in the High-Level Political Conference on Sustainable Development before the General Debate (UN 2023 Summit on SDGs).

Sustainable development, climate change, international cooperation, the need to address inequality, and major humanitarian crises will all be topics covered in Tinubu’s speech.

He is scheduled to take part in the High-Level Conference on Pandemic Prevention, Preparation, and Response and the High-Level Dialogue on Finance for Development.

Among other events, he will take part in the Climate Ambition Summit hosted by the UN Secretary General, the High-Level Conference on Universal Health Coverage, and the High-Level Panel on Reform of the Global Financial System.

In New York, Tinubu is also scheduled to hold several bilateral meetings with world leaders, including the Presidents of the European Union Commission, Brazil, and South Africa, among others.

The President will also advance his economic development agenda for aggressive investment attraction in meetings with the global leadership of transnational firms, such as Microsoft, Meta Technologies, Exxon Mobil, General Electric, and others.
