Bayelsa guber: Allies of Bayelsa Governor Douye Diri Express Confidence in Landslide Victory

Confidants of Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri have confidently asserted that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the upcoming November 11 governorship election is poised for a resounding triumph. Operating under the banner of the Friends of Senator Douye Diri (FSDD), these allies have emphasized that Chief Timipre Sylva, the immediate past Minister of State for Petroleum and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), stands as no worthy adversary against Governor Diri.

The President of FSDD, Chief Bodi Arerebo, relayed this conviction in Yenagoa, the state capital, during a sensitization tour that involved erecting billboards and displaying posters of Governor Diri and his deputy, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, at strategic locations.

Arerebo highlighted that Diri’s nearly four-year tenure as the state’s governor has significantly enhanced the well-being of the populace through human, infrastructural, and socioeconomic advancements, as well as fostering peace and security.

The head of FSDD further emphasized that the accomplishments achieved under Diri’s leadership since assuming office in 2020 far outweigh any alleged underperformance by Sylva during his own time at the helm of state affairs.

Arerebo stated: “The essence of this sensitization tour is to promote the good works that Diri has done since he took over the mantle of leadership of our dear state.

“We are by this action telling the people of Bayelsa that Diri means well for the state and he deserves a second term in office. This forthcoming election is about ballots and not bullets. We are making the people know that good governance needs to be encouraged. If Douye has given us these four years of unparalleled good governance, is it not good for us to support him to continue?

“The distribution of fliers, billboards, and posters that you see is part of what we are using to rally support for Diri for his committed service to our people. The governor has done so many projects in Bayelsa and he needs to be encouraged by giving him an opportunity to come and complete those good things he is doing.”
