Between June and July, the Nigeria Customs Service conducted 179 seizures in its Kaduna zone, resulting in the confiscation of contraband items with a payable duty totaling N1.04 billion.
Among the seized items were 21 used vehicles, 11 vehicles used for transporting contraband, and 81 parcels of suspected Indian hemp.
Additionally, the Customs seized 2,234 bags of 50kg rice, 48 bags of 25kg rice, and 226 Jerry cans of refined vegetable oil.
The confiscated goods also included 2,780 cartons of spaghetti and pasta, 278 bales of second-hand clothing, 15 sacks of second-hand shoes, and 140 cartons of tinned tomato paste and pomades.
Furthermore, the Customs zone seized 140 Jerry cans of diesel and 1,000 Jerry cans of petrol (25 liters each).
Customs Comptroller in the zone, Mr. Musa Jalo, assured that they would continue their efforts and called for increased support and cooperation from residents in the zone.
