Hospital seizes Okorodudu corpse over unpaid N600, 000

The shame most Nigerian ex-sportsmen, living or dead are being subjected to calls for special attention after the families of late Olympian, Jerry Okorodudu were prevented from picking up his corpse over unpaid N600,000.

iwitnesslive.com gathered that a private hospital in Lawanson area of Surulere demanded that the family of the deceased offset hospital bills incurred during treatment be cleared before taking his corpse for burial.

Jeremiah ‘Jerry’ Okorodudu, passed away at a private hospital in Lawanson, Lagos on Wednesday night after battling with a foot ulcer.

Okorodudu’s wife, Adenike, who briefed the press about her husband’s demise revealed that the hospital failed to back down until all outstanding medical bills is paid.

“He is dead now but we still need to pay N600,000 to get his body out of the hospital,” Adenike said.

Okorodudu represented Nigeria at the Los Angeles 1984 Olympic Games, where he competed in the middleweight category.
