The Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress have also joined in the scheming for the leadership of the 10th Assembly as they are pushing for favourable zoning and rooting for certain candidates, iwitnesslive can reports.
The lobby for top seats in the 10th National Assembly especially for the Senate President and House of Representatives Speaker has become intense as some Senators-elect and Reps-elect have thrown their caps into the ring.
The fact that the leadership of APC is yet to announce zoning has also encouraged aspirants to spring out of many geo-political zones.
However, while the APC leadership and the President-elect Bola Tinubu are yet to make their decision on zoning public, Governors have been working on having the key position ceded to some zones and have been canvassing for the candidacies of some certain elements.
Our correspondent learnt that while Governors are pushing in different directions, they are to meet on Wednesday to take a position on zoning which will now be communicated to the leadership of the APC before a final decision will be made on the leadership of the 10th National Assembly.
“The APC Governors will meet on Wednesday and will take a position on the zoning of the leadership position of the 10th National Assembly. This would not be the first time they would meet on the matter but they were unable to reach an agreement the two previous times they met because these Governors have different preferences.
“The meeting is to be held so that they will take a position on the zoning of offices not on particular candidates. The National Assembly members will be allowed to do that even though the party will make direction so clear,” a source told our correspondent.
