Oyo Fire Service confirms inferno at ex-governor’s residence

The Oyo State Fire Service has verified the occurrence of a fire incident at the residence of former state governor Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala.

Reports from Iwitnesslive indicate that Alao-Akala’s residence in the Randa area of Ogbomoso was engulfed by fire during the early hours of Monday.

Alao-Akala served as the governor of the state from 2007 to 2011.

Confirming the incident, Akinyinka Akinyemiju, the General Manager of Oyo State Fire Service, stated that the agency received a distress call at approximately 7:57 am on Monday. Firefighters promptly responded to the scene to combat the blaze.

Akinyemiju added that amidst the ongoing fire, one individual was successfully rescued.

Akinyemiju, in a short statement made available on Monday, said, “We received a distress call around 7:57hrs of a house on fire at randa area, Ogbomoso.

“We left the station at exactly 07:59hrs, on getting there, we met the house fully engulfed by fire and roof off.

“We immediately swung into action and we were able to rescue one person while the fire is still on during the course of fire fighting, one person was reported and handed over to CSP Kehinde Abayomi, the DPO Arowomole Police Station.

“We returned back to the station at 12:42hrs.”
